Bhutan - Arts - VAST
At the end of the trail we reached our destination, this house in the "village" of Chorten Neap ( village is in quotes because a western concept of a village is more that that of a few farm houses most separated from view of the others). The house is the family home of Kama*, the gentleman on the left.
In the above picture you will see that access to the living quarters is by way of a steep ladder.
Tea and rice and peppers were served. FYI: hot chili peppers are a vegetable in Bhutan, that is, they are served and eaten by the spoonfuls. Another bit of information you may not have known is that you can make a small marble sized ball with Bhutanese red rice, rub it around in your hands and in this manner wash up before dinner!
This house, because of the hydro electric efforts in Bhutan, now, despite it's very rural location has electricity.
Relative to the pillars of GNH, bringing electricity to the people who need it most for health and happiness is evidenced here.
