SUPER G

Sadly the first shot is soft... a case of "i got it" excitement in the hands of the shooter. Still, even though I didnt "get it", post it for you family and friends who care more about seeing the healthy little Super G than my prowess with a Point and Shoot.

NOT simple as pie

Above picture is not a recent purchase but a CAKE, a sample of the specialty offering at a bake shop in this hotel. The rates are from around $250 - $450. The firetruck being at the top of the food chain though i suppose the Gucci bag better fits that discription.

ON CAMPUS

Our hotel, Shangri La, is really very big but somehow manages to feel much smaller and, with 15 acres of lush gardens, as if it is situated in the middle of the jungle.
Here, you might really expect the tiger to wander into the bar!
Above are shots from a pretty amazing courtyard garden complete with walks, bridges and a bit of a little hill.

OFF CAMPUS

Our hotel, Shangri La,is a short walk from J and O's temp flat and even shorter one from their new home ( into which they are moving today). As a result we have pretty much been one place or the other all the time but did, on Monday, make a pilgrimage to an old haunt Raffles Hotel.
This historic hotel is so gorgeous and romantic in it's old Singapore architecture. it is also super cher now so best in these times visited like a tourist. ( above picture is one such tourist pretending to be well seated in luxury's lobby if not lap).

Above you will see a couple of the courtyards, the first with a bust of Sir Thomas Raffles the founder of Singapore in 1819. The 2nd is a bar in a dining patio. At night ( so memory has it ) there is live music played by tuxedoed gents on a balcony above. All very 1900s.

The long bar of Raffles is famous as a watering hole for the literati of those years. There is a tale of a Bengal tiger wandering into the bar ( which is on the 2nd floor giving me a pause in belief but...) Very real is the fact of the famous Singapore Sling having come into being at this long bar. Very real also is the price ~ 29.45 and the fact that we were not in the least tempted to be slung in such a way.

The elegant room is the Raffles Grill where i learned that Crispy Pork Belly means 4 3/4 inch squares of pig fat with a barely visible streak of pork meat embedded in the middle. Now i know.

INDULGENCE

I know, I know....stand as acused with all of these chubby baby pics...a totally smitten grandmother. Still, i know that all of you, family and close friends, who have been on the arduous path to live with these babies, are most likely every bit as happy as I to see their fat little bodies, their curiousity and alertness. It is clear to see ~ they are healthy and happy and hugely loved.

Singapore Snooze

The heat is here is real but there seem to be lots of ways of dealing with it.
The babies stroller has an opening in the back. These neat little battery charged rubber fans - safe for grabbing and chewing upon!- create a dandy breeze that makes snoozing on a walk through the Botanical Garden entirely possible...a little enviable too.
