meet the victorious Team Windmullers

Here's the team right after Lauren, second from right on the front row, and Ariel, thrid from right on the back row, finished the Big Sur Marathon. All team members are here with the exception of Heather who will be pictured later. Just wanted to get this out now. There is so much to report but with less than 40 hours until I leave for Bhutan and much effort to put into packing practically nothing because of the extremely strict restrictions of Druk Royal Air, I have to say now: MORE LATER.

Oh, the fence is separating those who have just finished the race from those who had done so earlier. Lauren had just finished and her aunt, cousin and I had run the last little bit with her putting ourselves on this side of the fence....if you follow.

Anyway, HOORAY for Team Windmullers who, with the combined efforts of the two runners who conquered 26 miles each, totaled 100 miles of marathon effort in addition to raising close to $50,000 for the MPD Foundation shose efforts are so close to our hearts.

Away...

...for a bit but will return with photos from Carmel, the Big Sur Marathon and the fabulous Team Windmullers. Please check out www.firstgiving.com/windmullers . Pretty amazing to us all that this one little family raised over $45,000 for the front burner reseach sponsored by the MPD Foundation. This research is close to our hearts in that it promises a treatment or cure for one of us. It will, no doubt, be a time of celebration for us all and, for the ones of us who run or walk the race, a time we will not soon forget.

When i get back to the desert I will have a matter of a 2 days to tell you all about the next big adventure that will start late on the night of May 2. Til then..

Some desert views...

...just to show you where we are. This was late yesterday afternoon in after the rain sunlight and is the view from our house.
I never ever thought to live on a golf course but, as you see, it is pretty far away and more like a good, long lawn.
We are in a wildlife corridor here and have lots of long legged bunnies, some road runners and - although we have only see one once -coyotes.
The lovliest thing, I think, is the birds. There are many, many different kinds and it seems they all have a song to sing and go about it all day long.

Porque. Redux

Porque. Why. had an invitational showing here in Palm Desert this week at a friend's very lovely home. It was well intended despite a monsterous wind storm going on at the same time. I am gratified to say that people were really attentive it's quiet but strong message. The artists talk went well with some good dialog as well. It is heart warming to say the least to have this exhibit working instead of in packing crates.
The home was intensely beautiful. You will see above one of the Porque. pics reflected in a mirror of the great room.
The catering was fawncy to say the least! ( Cynthia, do you remember going down in the wee small hours of the morning to the SF piers to shoot the tuna operation? Steve, do you remember the results...the tuna pics wherein you taught me PhotoShop essentials? The chef and the tuna reminded me of both!)

Self Portrait

Noticed the clutter on my bathroom counter, the peculiar layers of my attire ( a pajama top over a night gown of sorts) and decided I have the makings of rather truthful self portrait - including the camera!

HOW TO FOR CATS

When you see your person settle down to do some fireside or after-dinner reading, jump up into his or her lap, get comfortable, and then put your paws across the book or paper. This will make turning the pages difficult, and after a while you will find that they will give up.
